As a woodturner I also make my own custom designed tools. I'm now offering the hardware needed to make your own. This kit contains what you need to make shaping scraper tool that uses 1/4" square bits. Everything you need is included except the handle. Simply make the handle you want to complete your tool. Or this may fit into some interchangeable tool handles.
The tool body is 4140 chrome-moly steel measuring 9" long from the handle with a 3" tang. The main body is a 1/2" hex and the tang is 7/16 diameter. It has a black-oxide protective coating and the cutting bit is High-Speed steel. The bit can be sharpened on both ends for quick changing when turning. You can sharpen it with a round nose on both ends (That's how it comes), or grind a different profile on one end for custom work. The bits can be sharpened on any standard bench grinder. The kit is shown in the photos. The brand on the epoxy glue may be different, but equally good. Also, this may fit into some handles that accept similar woodturning tools.
This kit includes the tool body, Allen screws, Allen wrench, cutting bit, high strength epoxy and mixing stick and some instructions on how to use the tool. Basically, the same technique used with other scrapers, but since this is only 1/4 inch wide you can do serious shaping too.
