As a woodturner I also make my own custom designed tools. You can see some of them on my web site at DWMontville.com to see how they look. I'm now offering the hardware needed to make your own. This kit contains what you need to make the standard size tool that uses 1/4" square bits. Everything you need is included except the handle. Simply make the handle you want to complete your tool.
The tool body is 4140 chrome-moly steel measuring 9" long from the handle with a 3" tang. The main body is a 1/2" hex and the tang is 7/16 diameter. It has a black-oxide protective coating and the cutting bit is cobalt steel. This will cut like a laser. You can watch several videos of my tool being used on YouTube. Just go to YouTube.com and search for SegmentedTurner.
The kit is shown in the photos. That tiny dot below the Allen wrench in the parts photo is the magnet you can use to hold the wrench in the handle as shown in some of my completed tools. It's up to you if you want to do this.
This kit includes the standard tool body, Allen screws, Allen wrench, cutting bit, magnet for holding the wrench in the handle (if you chose to do so), high strength epoxy and mixing stick and some instructions and guidelines about how to make your handles and attach them to the body, and some pointers on how to use the tool.
