Mahogany Bowl – “Small Sample” – Special Technique of Inserted Segmentation

Here is a recent piece using a new technique I’m developing. I drill holes into the blank before I turn it and insert contrasting rods of wood. They are at angles of alignment that result in interesting effects as you see here. This is a small piece that I did to experiment with the technique. It is mahogany and is 4 ½ inches in diameter and 1 ¾ inches tall. Just a very nice bowl for display and use.

The finish is a semi-gloss. In one of the photos I include one of my business cards to better let you judge the scale of this piece.
