Cherry and Maple Wood Turned Bowl – A Small Work with Presence

Though this bowl measures only 4 1/4 ” in diameter and 3 1/2 ” tall, the design makes it shout much larger than its actual size. This is one of my earlier pieces. Now that I’m woodturning full-time I’ve decided to share some of these with the world. I hope it finds a new home.

This is a segmented work made of maple, cherry and thin dyed wood. The striking contrast between the cherry and black wood makes this look different from every angle of view. It holds its own both alone on a shelf and along with other pieces. The finish is a flat matte, neutral color to show the wood without alteration. I show it in one of the photos with one of my business cards to better let you judge the scale of this piece.
