These ferrules are special. They are made of woven carbon fiber. I get the tubes in metric dimensions, so they are 25mm (.98 inch) O.D. by 23mm (.90 inch) I.D. and they are ¾ inch (19mm) long. I would suggest holding them in place with epoxy or instant glue. I machine a small chamfer on the inside edge to make it easier to start on the tang for a press fit.
I had to come up with a new way to cut and machine them than I do with my stainless steel ferrules. Care must be taken to protect the shiny surface. But after several trial-and-error attempts I finally figured it out.
When you put one of these on your tool handle or other application, I assure you no one else will have such a ferrule. The appearance of them is great. You can tell that the carbon fiber weave is below the surface of the outer shiny resin. Check out the photos and video and you’ll see what I mean. Let me know if you have any questions.
